The year is 2050. Ocean is the next frontier, and war inevitably reached there. As an independent mercenary working for a corporate conglomerate, you are to pilot the latest fighter subs to protect the corporate interests, and rewarded with cold hard cash. With 5 different theater of operations (of varying difficulty) and an interesting mix of aerial and submarine tactics, this game can be described as Strike Commander under the sea, without the narrative.

Time Quest, written by Bob Bates (Sherlock: The Riddle of the Crown Jewels and Arthur: The Quest for Excalibur) who served his apprenticeship at Infocom), is a text/graphical interactive fiction game. You have to travel through time and solve various problems in that time period to correct the time stream.

Instead of a command and Conquer style game this is based on taking over planets with Diplomacy and also force. Slowly building up your empire and trying to beat your opposing force. There is no actual real-time fighting; it is all done with commands.

This is a sequel to Dark Forces. The game is set in Star Wars universe and its events occur after the second trilogy (Episodes IV to VI). Once again, you play the role of Kyle Katarn, a former mercenary, and now an ally of the rebels. Kyle discovers that he is in fact a Jedi, and is on a quest to find his lightsaber and to learn the techniques of the Force. The evil Sith lord Jerec, who was responsible for the death of Kyle’s father, is on a quest of his own, searching a mythical place called Valley of the Jedi, where his dark powers could be unleashed. Will Kyle be able to stop Jerec and become a true Jedi, without falling to the dark side?

You are now a member of the Silent Service, the US Navy Submarine command. For a long while after Pearl Harbor, you are the only forces capable of striking back at the Japanese in the Pacific. Take one of the “fleet boats” and go on extended patrols of up to 2 months from Hawaii, Australia, or New Zealand. Set your difficulty/realism level and time period (early means less tech for juicier targets, later means tougher escorts, more tech, lousier targets). Contend with factors like dud torpedoes, maximum depth, and more.

Raptor is a vertically-scrolling shoot ‘em up. It features smooth scrolling VGA graphics, a variety of enemies on ground, air and sea, and an original soundtrack.

After completing each level you have the option of upgrading your ship with a powerful arsenal of weapons and goodies. Some weapons are effective on only ground or air targets, while some are on both. There are some really advanced weapons like the auto-track mini-gun which can effectively destroy almost any kind of targets without aiming the ship.

The idea is to burst colored bubbles by linking any three bubbles of the same color. The game is over once a bubble gets crowded over the bottom line. To be a top scorer, you’ve got to burst as many bubbles as possible! But the real trick here is learning how to strategically angle your shots. Only a lot of practice will home your aim, end your shame and assure you fame!
